Mission & Goals

Program Mission

The Teacher Education program reflects the belief that teaching children is more than a career choice; it is both a gift and a mission. The mission of the Teacher Education Program of Aquinas College is to provide a broad spectrum of liberal arts, sciences and professional educational courses permeated with faith and enriched by Christian principles and values. Students are prepared to be teachers of the truth, thus enabling them to bring the message of salvation to bear on ethical, social, political, religious, and cultural issues in a variety of public, private, and parochial school settings.

Program Goals

The Aquinas College Teacher Education Graduate will:

  1. Educate the whole person by promoting the spiritual, moral, physical and intellectual development of each child in a value-centered classroom.
  2. Challenge the individual abilities of each student to reach their potential by being competent and knowledgeable in academic content.
  3. Demonstrate caring leadership in the classroom, school and community.
  4. Motivate students to live as part of a believing community which works to serve the multifaceted needs of the children in society; to enable students to embrace the plurality of cultures and creeds; and to respect and reverence the individual differences of children as a wonder of God.
