First-time Freshman Applicants must submit an official transcript from an accredited high school and an official ACT or SAT score report. For admission, applicants must have an overall GPA of 2.1 and ACT enhanced scores of: Composite 19, English 19, Math 19 (or an equivalent SAT score). Applicants who have earned a 2.6 overall GPA are not required to meet the minimum ACT/SAT score. However, placement testing will be required for all applicants scoring below 19 in either Math or English subtests. Applicants who are not in compliance are referred to the Admissions Committee which, with the approval of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, will rule on acceptance into Aquinas.
Home Schooled Students must provide a copy of a transcript from an accredited Home School agency, along with an official ACT or SAT score report. ACT scores are not required for those who have been out of school for five years or more.
Students who score below 19 in English or Math will be required to take the English or Math Placement Test to determine if they are eligible for ENG 102 or MAT 103 (non-credit bearing courses). If so, these courses must be taken and passed successfully before admission to credit bearing English and Math courses. Any student who is admitted to the college on academic probation and is required to complete components of the LearningPlus® Program must do so successfully within the first semester of attendance.
GED Recipients must have an average GED score of 50 or above on the paper test and a 500 or above on the computerized version. ACT scores are not required for those who have been out of school for five years or more. Placement tests will be given to those who score below 50/500 in English or Math (yet who have an average score of 50/500 or above) to facilitate placement in English and math courses. Applicants who are not in compliance are referred to the Admissions Committee which, with the approval of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, will rule on acceptance into Aquinas. If the Admissions Committee rules to accept an individual, the letter of acceptance becomes the legal contract, and any conditions therein must be met for a student to continue in subsequent semesters.
Applicants over 21 years of age who do not have post-secondary education or applicants who score below 19 on English or Math sections of the ACT must take English or Math Placement tests. Placement in English and Math courses will be based on the results of each of the Placement tests.
Members of the Aquinas College community, including students, are expected to become familiar with and to foster in their lives the mission of Aquinas College.
