Prof. McCarthy delivers jubilee lecture

The Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia Congregation continue their 150th jubilee celebration with a historical lecture by Steve McCarthy, Assistant Professor of History at Aquinas College, on July 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Motherhouse (located at 801 Dominican Drive, Nashville, TN 37228).

Professor McCarthy will present both a general view and particular highlights of Catholic heritage in the Volunteer State, from the arrival of the earliest missionaries in Tennessee to the present day sesquicentennial of St. Cecilia Congregation in Nashville. His lecture will focus on major personages, significant events, and notable facts and figures. Timelines, maps and pictures will be used to enhance the presentation.

A perennial favorite among students for both the breadth of his knowledge and for his dynamic insights into the significance of events, Professor McCarthy has been a member of the faculty of Aquinas College since 1989. He holds a master's degree in history and a Master of Arts in teaching from the University of Memphis. In addition to teaching, Professor McCarthy also writes a serial historical column for the Aquinas College Magazine.

The lecture is open to the public at no cost for attendance.
