Posted on Thursday, October 17, 2024

The Aquinas Lecture Series for the 2024-25 academic year kicked off on Thursday, September 19th, with over 50 guests. Guest speakers, the Rev. Luke Wilgenbusch and Sister Mary Thomas, O.P., spoke to the crowd at the Aquinas Center on the theme of our Patron, Saint Thomas Aquinas’s teachings on prayer. Father Wilgenbusch spoke specifically of “Theology at Prayer in the Sequence Lauda Sion Salvatorem,” and Sister Mary Thomas’ lecture was on “Prayer in St. Thomas: Raising the Soul to God.” The evening ended with time in Adoration, with choral music provided by three of our students in the Education program: Sister Chiara Grace, Sister Helena Cecilia, and Sister Simone. It was the first of four lectures on prayer, which continue December 9, February 10 and April 10 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Each of the events will cover a different aspect of prayer with two speakers. Be sure to mark your calendars now to attend this intellectually challenging and spiritually enriching series.
